CREATOR
Welcome!
I am Marina Romash - artist, enamel painter, jewellery designer and art director of VARVARA Collection brand.
I created my first piece of jewellery when I was nine years old, it was a pair of earrings reminiscent of an antique piece of jewellery with an attempt to imitate enamel. Since then, the passion for jewellery has lived inside me and, despite the long journey, has led me into this interesting creative and colourful world.
I felt an irresistible desire to paint from an early age, and the first step was attending art school, where my immersion in art went in full swing. I later received a diploma of an artist and a fine arts teacher. During my studies, art history became one of my most favourite subjects.
I got my artistic DNA from my great-grandmother, who was a Polish woman of noble birth, who, as I was told, received an art education and never let her brushes out of her hands until very old age. Unfortunately, all of her paintings were lost in a fire that destroyed a large house on a beautiful estate in Georgia.
My path to the art of jewellery continued at a prestigious jewellery school in Italy, and then I was very lucky to develop my skills in England in the workshop of an outstanding master of enamel miniatures, Gillie Hoyte Byrom. Meeting her was a life-changing experience for me. It was a great honour for me and I can consider Jilly as my professional mentor who led me into the world of enamel miniature painting.
I have been living in Switzerland for 18 years, 10 of which I have worked with the most prestigious watch-making companies, designing dials and creating miniatures for limited collections for the most prestigious brands such as Patek Philippe, Hermès, Louis Moinnet and Chopard.
I tried to unleash my inspiration and instincts, which have encouraged me since childhood to play with all kinds of materials: metals, fabrics, ceramics, oil, acrylic and watercolour paints, creating paintings over and over again.
And now, thanks to my experience, I have decided to make my cherished dream come true - to create my own jewellery brand and realise my fantasy to the fullest.
I have named this brand in honour of my dear grandmother, who gave me a lot of love and first introduced me to the spiritual world. The brand bears her beautiful name, Varvara.
My memories of her are associated with the smell of morning pastries, delicious food, leisurely stories and laughter during games - the most important family values. I try to pass this on to my children and through them to preserve the traditions once laid down by my grandmother.
It is my gratitude to my entire family, who have given me a lot of inspiration and support.
And I believe that my products, made with absolute dedication to my craft, will become part of your family history as well.
